Embracing Sustainability

Beyond hospitality, Bukka Hut thrives as a people-centric brand that champions empowerment and sustainability. Our initiatives align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG 2 – Zero Hunger

  • During COVID-19, Bukka Hut distributed over 1,000 food packs across Lagos.

  • Partnered with Candlelight Foundation and DJ Electra Charity Organisation to support food drives and community outreach programs.

  • Celebrated Children’s Day (2023 & 2024) with Chess in Slums Africa, providing meals and experiences for 150 children.

SDG 4 – Quality Education

  • In 2021, partnered with Sponsor A Child Through School (SACTS) to distribute 2,500 notebooks and educational funds nationwide.

  • Launched the Employee Scholarship Program (2020) — over 200 employees trained and mentored to further their education and careers.

  • Introduced the Management Preparatory Program (2023) to develop future leaders within Bukka Hut.

SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth

  • Created the annual Yard Sale Initiative (since 2020), empowering SMEs by providing free space in Bukka Hut outlets to showcase and sell their products — over 100 entrepreneurs supported to date.

SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production

  • Waste to Wealth Program — over 248,000 plastic bottles recycled since 2022, with proceeds shared among staff.

  • Used Oil Recycling Program — used cooking oil repurposed into soap, reducing environmental pollution and rewarding employees.

At Bukka Hut, we pull together resources, passion, and purpose to transform lives at every touchpoint — because every meal we serve strengthens our ability to make a difference.
